| | giddy | ] | This is more of a concert review than a life status update. Who wants to read that shit anyways?
Having seen the NINja tour come to Camden, NJ a couple days ago I was left with a few thoughts. One in particular still stands up. Perry Farrell is a weird fucker! When he talks he reminds me of Sponge Bob. He has to be the most effeminate non-gay man Ive ever seen. He's 50 though and after discovering more of Jane's Addiction Songs than their radio hits I'll let em slide ;). I read a review about Dave Navarro's shirt coming off after the 3rd song in the set. So my friends and I had a little side bet and sure enough off goes his shirt! Amber said it perfectly "It's Dave Navarro featuring Jane's Addiction". He became Slash with his cigarette smoking on stage. I swear the camera man who was responsible for the images on the big screens at the show was in love with him. Yes he's a damned good guitarist but he comes off as an arrogant prick! I think I would have enjoyed their set more if the sound levels weren't so shitty. Farrell was ear shattering at times and the guitar solos hit some awful frequencies at points too.
As far as NIN goes they get an A fuckin Plus for their performance and energy. The only bad part was not hearing more songs than the 18 or so that was played. It's really sad to think of it as a farewell tour and having this be the only time i've ever seen NIN. I remember reading an article about Trent wanting to help produce a movie with Year Zero as the soundtrack. I just hope that whatever his next endeavor is is that he still 'Creates'. He's a musical genius and seems very passionate about what he does and for the fans as well.
Oh and the opening band.. Street Sweeper Social club. They are more than just a band... they're a social club! Tom Morello kicked ass! |

| | amused | ] | So today I stumbled across the widely popular (I guess) joke of the net from late 2007. At the center of it all is this short video called 2 girls 1 cup which is one of the most vile videos you can see. Now I haven't seen it because im at work but after reading about it I'm sure I'd agree. Anyways, the joke is more about people's reactions on youtube than the actual video. I laughed my ass off at some of them and decided to post the ones I found the most interesting in order from least funny to most. So here goes!

| | Silverchair - Freak | ] | I haven't even left the 90's yet. At least musically. I'm ashamed to admit that im infected by the Silverchair bug again. After hearing Tomorrow at Amber's bday party ive been slowly listening to their stuff from the Frogstomp and Freakshow era. Is it grunge? I think so. Music on the radio was at it's pinnacle (at least to me in the early and mid nineties). Bands would play heavy riffs for verse tracks and some melodic chrouses thrown in there. I especially loved the dark reverb and echo effects that were used. Songs like Freak with its crunchy verse lines and then boom! the melodic chorus comes in. Nevermind the lyrics... The same could be said for a handful of bands. Another that comes to mind is Drain STH. An all chick band with some dark and brooding songs. Now i've tried to keep up with the bands that made it through the 90's. It's really depressing to see where they are now and that critics and fans alike think that their best work is the current shit. After Freakshow, Silverchair became nothing like the rock/grunge band that they were. Ive listened to the samples off amazon.com from their other albums like Neon Ballroom, Diorama (their masterpiece supposedly) and the latest Young Modern. It's very whiny and boring. I guess my musical tastes must sucks because the general public eats that shit up. To me it all sounds the same... uninspired. Young Modern sounds like a fuckin coldplay ripoff. And I think coldplay sucks (aside from that one hit they had Yeeears ago). Bands like My Chemical Romance make me cringe. Yet they are hugely popular. Honestly I'd rather listen to an albums worth of my trashman throwing out and compacting garbage than material like that. I just dont understand. I don't think I'm old or anything. It just seems like the 00's have spawned a generation of pussies... but yet bands that once rocked have followed suit. I hope the 10's at least puts out some sort of return to melodic and heavy radio music. I fear that it will only get worse though. |

| | dorky | ] | Last night I went to see Tori Amos with the roomies. She was smoking hot and did an incredible job along with the rest of the band. The venue itself, Tower Theater was nice as well but It couldnt have been in a shittier location. Anyways we got the privilege of sitting behind this incestous family of 3 (Father, Mother, Son). They were an odd bunch and served as a great obstruction to the show. I was lucky enough to sit behind dad A.K.A. The Tall Man. This is the lovely view I had.
Upon closer inspection you may recognize him as a famous celebrity.
That's right! It was Edward Herrmann! Vampire Step-Dad from the Lost Boys and current old-guy intern on Grey's Anatomy. What an honor! |

It was a really fun time and a great place, I'd love to go back again and have more time to check it out. It is expensive though, cost 18 bucks to get in and of course food there was a bit pricey but the overall atmosphere was awesome. These pics were taken with my new cell phone. Not the greatest quality, but the phone itself is pretty cool. Anyways, enjoy!

| | energetic | ] | Wow... Captivity absolutely BOMBED on Rotten Tomatoes. I haven't really paid much attention to it but of the more sensible reviews the faults are bad acting, no plot and bad dialogue. There's always a lot of those reviewers who seem to be of the conservative prick nature where they bash it because of gore or what not. They use the term Torture Porn. I fucking loathe that term. What the hell is Torture Porn? Yeah there are victims who get Tortured. But last time I checked I didn't see an alternating shot of a girl getting slashed to death and then a close up penetration view. Grow the hell up! Signs point to me not really liking the film but all the attention has made me curious to at least give it a rental when it comes out. People can bitch and moan all they want but this is where filmmaking is currently. There needs to be a new trend in horror. Can you imagine watching a 1950's wolf man flick or 70's Dracula film and being scared? No.. I didn't think so. Those films have nostalgic value, but the popcorn isn't going to be flying out of your hands like it may have from the beatniks of that era.
On a more positive note pyschological and suspense still work in movies. I hope to see more come out of that horror sub-genre in the near future too. |

Not to mention it's about $600 for the thing. I predict it will fail just like the PS3. But if you're absolutely set on getting one but don't have the cash may I suggest the poor man's Iphone.

I've always wanted to have a theme for my room but have been too lazy/stressed/broke etc to do anything about it. Well I have an idea of what 'motif' I'm going for now. I've had it for awhile, but it's beginning to solidify more. As much as a zombie freak/fan that I am.. I think my love of aliens & ufo's is coming back to kick some ass. Here are a couple things that at some point down the road I'd like to put in my room.

| Hostel: Part II |
[Jun. 8th, 2007|08:56 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | happy | ] | It took me awhile to watch the first Hostel knowing exactly what was in store. After seeing it I was relieved to find out that it wasn't as horrible as I had thought it would be. I'm a bit ashamed admitting to be scared of a horror movie considering what a huge fan I am of the genre. But at the same time I want to see these kind've films to see what limits have been pushed. It's new territory for me. It's not so much gore that bothers me.. but it's the possibility that this could actually be happening and it's fuckin terrifying to think if i were to be caught in that situation. I sympathized with the male victims in the first Hostel and took great satisfaction in the end when one of the best revenge scenes in film took place. The plot kept going and it wasn't a mindless slash-fest that I thought it would be. From the reviews I've read it seems like the viewer is more inclined to sympathize with the victims this time around because they're all harmless girls. What's fucked up is that part of the story is told from the killer's perspective depicting them as average joe's. If I were to go into the movie right now i'd come off bias against the killers because I think they're fuckin twisted individuals. But knowing Eli Roth he has probably created a way to actually relate to them. A lot of people are saying Hostel II is better than the first one so I'm pretty excited about that. And the dude who got away in the first move is supposed to be in it as well. One thing is for sure... I don't ever plan on going to Slovakia! |

| | MM - Ozium | ] | So I received one of those dumb "Let's boycott X" emails not too long ago. In this case it was calling for everyone to not buy gas on May 15th so we can stick it to the man. Now im just as upset about the rising gas prices as the next guy but let's not be idiotic and think that we can make a difference with a one day boycott.
MSNBC wrote an article on the many reasons why it would have no impact Here. Besides the fact that I doubt even a fraction of the readers who got that email will follow through, they point out that people will just gas up either the day before or the next day making the whole point null. To truly have an effect people would have to not use their cars at all for one day. Good luck with that. I dunno, I just get fed up with these retards who just seemingly want attention. I feel the same when people forward me an IM saying (AOL, YAHOO, ETC) is going to start charging for using their messenger sevice "PLZ FWD!". Come on people, if you're on my friends list I expect you to know better hah. Do a little research before hand! :) |

Why the hell wasn't I informed that they became doomy as hell?!? I'm so far behind the times that I still think albums in the 90's are new. haha. I especially need to catch up on my doom metal. (Still my favorite sub-genre of metal btw). I know of doom-metal.com but their list of 100 bands is pretty damn intimidating to try and sort through it all. As much as I'd rather have an actual cd of bands (because I love the artwork too) I think I'm going to have to go on a CD burning spree. Oh yeah.. and Michael I have been checking out the stuff you recommend to, so keep em coming! |

| | Crematory - Unspoken | ] | Well I haven't seen anyone else posting about it on my friends group.. nor do I intend to delve into the tragedy of it all. I find it staggering that one kid managed to kill over 30 people in less than three hours. This is the kind've shit you'd expect to see in Natural Born Killers, not in real life. What's even more disturbing is that these killing spree's have recently ended in suicide. There is no standoff, no apprehension. It leaves many questions open and a feeling of injustice. And this is sad but true... it isn't going to get any better.
When you look at it from an observers perspective, it's hard not to be amazed at the damage one person did. Everyone is so edgy on terrorists and post-9/11 & Iraq turmoil that our internal conflicts and struggles get overlooked. What scares me more than this... is what happens when terrorists do strike. All this does is give them plans for attack. You take a terrorist cell of say 15 people, who meticulously plan an attack plot, have access to more sophisiticated weapons and pick a target such as a school, concert hall, or sports complex.. whatever and you're going to have a lot more than 30 dead. It's one of the first things that came to my mind when I heard about the VT story.. "what's next?". I don't really see a solution either. If you put security all over the place, we're all just going to be in this state of fear and lock down and our economy will suffer (as if it isn't already). All we can do is wait and see. |

| | NIN - Vessel | ] | So the new NIN album, Year Zero, is realling sinking it's hooks into me. After listening to nearly the entire album on myspace (pretty decent of him btw) I heard some tracks that I really like. I think after a few listens the whole thing will sink in. Wasn't really a few of his last album, but perhaps I should give that a chance again. I don't know. I just find this quote from Trent on Amazon amusing:
"A lot of it was improvised. It is very tedious describing your own music. It's not just music. It's probably too long, but it felt like the right thing to do to paint the complete picture. It will sound different after a few listens. You can think about it and it will reveal more than you were expecting. You can dance to a lot of it. You can f*** to a lot of it (maybe all of it depending on what you're into)."
The day Nine Inch Nails makes an album you can't fuck to is a sad day indeed! :P |

| | amused | ] | I found this review on IMDB on the movie Tideland. I couldn't help but laugh because it sums up my feelings on the movie exactly.
[Awful movie. by wyntrz (Fri Mar 9 2007 04:43:25 ) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You know you're heading towards a big mess of a movie when the director has to insert a monologue that details a prerequisite in order for you enjoy and watch this movie. Unfortunately it didn't help.
Tideland is one boring, self-indulgent, dragging, and horrible film. And it has nothing to do with the "disturbing imagery" and "uncomfortable situations" that are in the movie.
A lot of people are going to say I didn't get it. No, I did get it. It's a movie about the world seen through the eyes of a child. The problem with that is, children are boring. Adults are not entertained by what children see in their heads when they go off playing with their friends. That's why children don't make films.
This movie was like watching my little sister play her with Barbie Playhouse when we were kids - except without the corpses, one-eyed taxeyedermist whores, and child molesting retards. At the end, I wanted to smash the DVD like it was my sister's Playhouse.
This is the perfect example of an arthouse film that is made for the high-and-mighty film school students who sit around in coffeeshops explaining why boring and pretentious movies like this are masterpieces.
Hell, even the distribution company of the movie has a pretentious name - Thinkfilms. So just to summarize: This movie sucks] |

My roommate and myself are trying to find a nice home for two beautiful kittens. The Tabby kitty is a female and the black and white is a male. They're about 5 months old and in good health. We would prefer to have them go to the same home and to find a place for them immediately. We would even be willing to drop them off. I saw my daughter for the first time today. She is so beautiful. It was amazing to hold her in my arms. Mel took some pictures today and including some with me. They're up on Jamie's Xanga journal which is here. I absolutely love the xmas suit she's wearing. It's still quite a shock to me that she is my daughter but honestly I'm very happy with the way things have turned out. |

| Update in my life |
[Nov. 30th, 2005|02:44 am] |
I blacked out twice tonight in the span of 10 minutes. I was at home talking to Amber and all of a sudden I just felt dizzy. Next thing I know I'm on the floor looking up trying to figure out what the hell happened. I was okay for a few minutes and sat down to rest when I blacked out again. I really scared myself and my roommate and ended up going to the hospital to see what was wrong. Everything checked out okay at the hospital and im feeling fine now. It was just shocking and scary for me because I've never had this happen to me before. Of course it had to happen on Amber's birthday of all times, but I can't stress enough how important she is to me and how lucky I feel to have such a great friend.
I have another important annoucement to make as well. I am now a father. I have a daughter named Jamie who was born on July 17. I'm not going to go into details about the circumstances leading up to her birth, but I'm happy about being a father and I hope I can provide the best for her. If you want to see pictures just go here. I think photobucket is down right now but once it's back up you'll be able to see how adorable she is.
And oh yeah, I cut my hair. Heh |
